Submission Guidelines:

Who Can Submit:

Anyone. As a small team, we charge a pay-what-you-can reading fee, per submission (see below).

Professional Artiste, or full-time nanny. MFA or not. We are interested in any work that addresses our theme of the issue-at-hand.

We Accept:

Interviews, Essays, Fiction, Poetry, & Photography.

Fiction: (short stories and stand-alone novel excerpts) of up to 12,000 words. Plot is cool, but at least make it punk.

Essays, Interviews: the more scathing, the better. Maybe personal or lyrics, something hybrid. Don’t care, make us sweat. (up to 3,000 words).

Poetry: Please send up to five poems (in a single document) per submission. Form or function, doesn’t matter, take a risk.

Photography: 5-12 images per submission. Please submit in best format possible, JPG or PDF. Please include a short paragraph describing the context, as well as, your creative process in the making of the project.

All submissions must be in English. We welcome works in translation. Simultaneous submissions are allowed but please notify us if work is accepted elsewhere.

Previously unpublished work is preferred, although in the case of photography, re-prints are acceptable.

We live in a time, and we’re sure those people are out there, somewhere, but, unfortunately, we are not those people. Please do not submit AI-generated work.

We are able to modestly pay our human contributors.

Again, our team is small and democratic with our reading process, and so we average a response time of around 4-6 months.

Deadline:

We will be open for submissions April 7th-June 1st, 2026, for our Spring/Summer ‘27 debut issue.

Format:

Digital submissions only. Please submit:

    •    Writing/Poetry: PDF or Word document. 12-point, Times New Roman, double-spaced.

    •    Poetry/Photography: JPG or PDF

Editorial Review:

Submissions are reviewed by trusted volunteer readers and our editorial team.

Selected contributors will be notified by email. Work may appear in print and/or digital editions of BIG LITTLE.
